Uniting two iconic silhouettes to create the perfect all-terrain walking shoe, Eighteen East proudly introduces the Mephisto Break Spectrum.

Combining the unlined construction and signature side stitching of Mephisto’s Rainbow with the rugged outsole and detailing of the Mephisto Break, the Break Spectrum has been painstakingly crafted in France from Italian chrome-tanned full grain pebbled leather and rough out suede. Other features include:

• Matte antique brass D-ring speed lacing system with two tonal lace options that can be worn separately or together
• Fully unlined construction
• Padded tongue, heel collar and Air Relax memory foam insole add extra cushion and shock absorption
• Mephisto’s SOFT-AIR shock-reducing midsole which is touted to relieve the joints, vertebrae and the spine and has been described as like walking on a soft carpet of moss.
• A fully-resolable natural rubber all-terrain outsole that features two shock absorbing alveolar-structured rubber air bags and heavier lug pattern for increased grip and stability.

About Mephisto: German footwear designer Martin Michaeli launched Mephisto in 1965 with the creation of the Rainbow and over the last 60 years, the brand has quietly developed the reputation throughout Europe and the UK for producing the world’s most comfortable walking shoe. Focused primarily on lasting quality and performance, the brand has remained largely under the radar in the US market until recently and has been highly selective about collaborative projects. Past partners include Graphpaper, Gosha Rubchinskiy and Patta. Mephisto is still owned and run independently by Michaeli and is headquartered in Sarrebourg, France, where it hand produces its footwear with the finest European leathers and materials.
